Last night I awoke for what seeme a long time and had a kind of epiphany. It came with this image, one of the illustrations I did for a story by my friend Carol Karasik. This one image from 37 years ago suddenly seemed to contain and express my deepest inner desire: for a world as beautiful as this one: everyone safe in a peaceful world, where no predator stalks us to devour us and even the grass has to find ways to protect itself from being all eaten up. The image and my technique also show me my talent and my limitations as an artist and with that my successes and failures in life or what at the moment seem as such. And I saw them all fall into place: my strength and my failings and could completely accept the whole of that emerging image. My heart filled with a tenderness towards myself and my struggles. I eventually fell asleep again and woke up filled with peace and feeling a special light ess around the heart
