  • The man in this photo was an idiot, I thought. I had first worked with him 25 years ago in another city and thought he was lazy, inarticulate and a bit dim. He was the butt of the office joke - when he tagged along after work we all tried hard to avoid him. It was for him that the staff FAB International Rescue code was invented. Now, in the job I have which I love and which I will not leave til they fire me, he has reappeared. 25 yrs and 300 miles away from when I last knew him. This time I can see how committed he is. I see him loving every minute of the time he gets to spend as a participant in the projects I now create. The day I saw this photo of him, totally in the moment and alive, was the day I ate my words.
