  • I've been having a progressively more difficult time seeing in the last year, with blurring vision, watery eye, and all those other challenges of a cataract that has gotten ripe, and another one that isn't ripe yet. I have sometimes skipped stories and deleted emails unread, and stayed off FB as much as I could, because my eyes were strained from grading many papers for my online classes and I could no longer see to read.

I went to see the surgeon last Thursday, and it is scheduled for this Thursday and my vision will not be the same as before the cataract. Since I went for the expensive lens that my insurance will not cover (around $2000 with everything), I will possibly not have to have prescription lens for that eye, but it's a gamble, you get what you get. I'll figure out how to pay for it later, but my eyes are important and I'm worth it.

I will be having weekly visits to doctor and will be putting eye drops in 4 times a day for a month. I am hoping I can postpone the other eye for awhile, because when you do one eye, it usually messes up your vision and you have to do the other eye too, although it is doing great right now, and another two grand is not in the picture for awhile.

Wish me luck. I will start reading again as soon as I'm able and the colors will be brighter!

The photo is my butterfly bush behind my studio (a converted garage) and I had a challenging time getting it to upload so you could SEE it.
