  • This morning I got some terrific surprise news.

My new novel, "Death Valley" (published by Buckrider Books, an imprint of Wolsak and Wynn) has been long-listed for one of Canada's most prestigious literary awards, the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

The longlist is twelve books. Mine, "Death Valley," is one of the twelve. There were 161 books submitted, from 69 publishers. My publisher is a small indie press located in Hamilton, Ontario. The whole team there is over the moon. Me too; it's quite an honour.

You can read the full details, at this link: www.scotiabankgillerprize.ca/the-scotiabank-giller-prize-presents-its-2016-longlist

I had no expectation of this. I am stunned and joyful.
