  • Beginning a day with a phone call at 3am then another at 6am can be rough. I'd recommend doing calls either earlier or later but not both. Either way, 3 hours of sleep in theory lead to a full night (and day). We came to the realization that sleeping in as bad when the phone read 2:30pm. Oops. We planned on going to a private lecture on Leo Marchutz at his studio at 11 but that passed. Oh well.

As the rain continued in Aix, we slowly but surely began our sad day. It got a serious jump from a delicious breakfast of eggs, infused with onions, peppers, and a sampling of apple. The eggs were accompanied by some great London Earl Grey tea and some Saucisse Séche pur Porc, or amazing store brand sausage with some dijon mustard.

After some Skype calls and a video chat with Jocelyn, who is coming to Europe for a few weeks with some friends, we strolled out into the rainy streets of Aix, where we headed for Nick and O'Neill's for an informal showing of Star Wars episode 6. Good stuff.

We hit up the organic market followed by the bakery and a Spar grocery store and gathered the fixins' for a simple pasta meal.

Our arrival was mid epic battle for the rebel alliance so we dropped our bag and took a seat on the couch.

After we witnessed the comic special effects and epic soundtrack of the rebels claiming victory over the dark side, we took to the kitchen for some dinner. We all agreed that we weren't that hungry but dinner ended up being a massive salad, complete with hard boiled eggs, a fresh variety of greens, some great cheese and toped with a vinaigrette and some salmon. Wait, that was just the first course.

The main course was a massive bowl of pasta with some great flavorings added to our pasta sauce. We sat down for the meal and ate with candles, normal and sparkling water, 2 bottles of wine part of the club de sommeliers, and a fresh baguette. The dine was yet another masterpiece meal that michelin guide restaurants will serve, all on a budget. We capped off the night with the visits of some friends and a few games of hearts.

    Life is good.
