  • After tasting Burt's offering, and to some extent influenced by Jenny's insightful takes on Folke's comments and idiosyncrasies, I have made some resolutions regarding my Cowbird output.

Eating spaghetti, in the hands of ordinary mortals, can be a pedestrian affair, involving munching and ingesting, but Burt uses it as a metaphor, and a thoughtful one at that. His ideal spaghetti eater does not just dig his fork in, twirl it round and then convey its catch into a gaping mouth. He studies the strands, deftly unknots the best one and proceeds from there. Jenny catches Folke flexing his knees etc.

I have been guilty of picking what I imagine to be a nice pic and embroidering a story around it. Or just publishing a lame story about a pizza, a samoosa, or a few rhyming lines adding up to not a lot. My (birthday) resolution is that since there are hundreds of Cowbirders and that the minutes in a day are finite, I will be more thoughtful in the composition of my stories, as a means of respecting their valuable time. I will avoid unnecessary longueurs, trivial routine occurrences to the neighbour's cat etc...
