  • Mother Earth was pissed off.

For too long she had endured so much abuse from her children. They used her, drilled her, took her for everything she had and still expected her to provide them with everything they wanted, they demanded it!

She was tired of it all. She looked at her reflection and saw the blemishes on her skin, her hair was dull and greasy, her belly was fat and bloated. She felt ugly and insecure and angry.

"Enough is enough!" she said, " I just want to be left alone."

She decided it was time to cleanse her body and her spirit of the muck that was covering it. She went within herself and unleashed the ferocious powers of the crimson lava. As it burst through the mountain she felt pain and relief all at once. The lava flowed down the mountain, carrying with it all the poisons that she had been keeping inside.

Her children ran away in fear of her awesome red hot fury. The crimson river burned away the muck and grime that was all over and covered it with rich minerals and the ingredients for new life.

As the crimson river cooled, it became a nutritious fertilizer which gave birth to new life and soon a thriving rainforest emerged from the ashes, rich and green and full of life.

Mother Earth felt beautiful again and she came out of herself dancing for joy. She had been reborn. In her state of happiness she felt that she had to share this wonderful gift with others, so she gathered her daughters and gave them all a blessing.

"You too shall possess the power to cleanse yourself of all the muck that is thrown on you and become reborn as I have done. And just as the crimson river flows through my veins, it shall also flow through yours so when the time comes for you to release all the poisons that you have been keeping within, it shall flow freely, like this volcano, and wash them all away. Then you can gather the liquid and give it back to me and it's rich nutrients will feed the plants and creatures in my soil and you too shall have the power to replenish the Earth and grow your own forests."

And so the blessing of the crimson river was passed down from mother to daughter over thousands of years, and even though the world has forgotten the true meaning of the blessing and has come to regard it as a curse, our benevolent Mother Earth continues to bless us with the power to give new life to ourselves and to others, for this is what it means to be a woman.
