  • We all have times in our lives when we feel we are at an impasse. There seems to be nothing we can do to change our circumstances, and so all we can do is wait. For me, those are my most challenging times. I tend to be a person of action. I like setting goals, writing lists, taking action, and moving along on my path. It gives me a feeling of personal accomplishment, and I then think that I have control over my life.

Truthfully, though, control and moving forward are pretty debatable. Our life paths are not always in a forward direction, and sometimes when you think you're moving forward, you are actually stepping sideways, standing still, or even running backward. It's all an illusion and often totally out of our personal control. So, what do you do when you feel you're stuck or that something has pushed you off the path?

You check your attitude. That's the one thing that you can usually control, no matter the circumstances. If everything else in your life is at a standstill, or if your life is suddenly in chaos, you can keep moving your attitude in a productive, progressive way. Avoid REACTION. Embrace RESPONSIBILTY. Your attitude determines your ability to respond. Responding, instead of reacting, determines your quality of life.
