  • Peace rises early to welcome the sunrise, and to savor her two cups of Ethiopian coffee on her snug screened back porch. She never grows bored with the warm fragrance of cinnamon that she simmers in water on her stove or the nine-grain cereal she enjoys for her balanced breakfast. Peace saunters on her morning walk as opposed to the speed walking of her neighbor, Diligence. And as she walks, she takes notice of lights turning on in other kitchens and she silently bids the dweller blessings of the day. She always recognizes a chirping bird, a gentle breeze, a lovely bloom, and a kind word, and her first response is always silent: a grateful heart. Peace gives a nod or a warm smile to every face she encounters. If that soul hints at the smallest strain or sadness, peace gently inquires and remains around to listen and give a hug or a word of encouragement. Peace sees only possibilities in everyone and everything; she avoids criticism in lieu of finding the good and praising it. Peace does not hurry to work or class because she needs to pace herself in order to keep herself and milieu in balance and good working order. She likes to manage one task at a time and if possible by a window. Rarely will you find Peace standing around the water cooler. At the end of her day, Peace admires the stars as she says her prayers. In mild weather she is content to retire early and sleep on her porch.
