  • Last year we had been to Vadodara in Gujarath.
    Walking down the streets of Vadodara,
    we came to Sri Aurobindo Nivas. Entering the gates
    of the compound was like stepping into another world ;
    beautiful,peaceful, serene, calm and quiet.

    Sri Aurobindo lived in Baroda from 1893 to 1906.
    He worked in the administrative and educational
    departments of the Baroda State for the Maharaja
    of Baroda.He lived in this house from 1901 to 1906.

    We were there for almost two hours, sitting and
    reading in the Reading room. It was so peaceful.
    People come and go,to pay their respects, there
    is a meditation room. There are rooms for people
    to stay in the precincts. It was nice to see an old
    lady being helped to her room.
    The whole place has a charm of its own ,
    an old world charm.
