  • While we were busy getting lost on our car rally a few days ago, I did have one burst of clear thought. That France is a truly blessed country, which has it all: amazing landscapes, sea, mountains, fertile agricultural land, history and culture, great food, good weather (in parts).

    And good roads.

    As we zig-zagged our way through the teeniest of forestry roads in some remote mountain between two lost villages, we barely found a pothole.

    Little wonder, then, that tourists prefer to come here rather than to our own homelands.
