  • We are the city.

We contribute to create the mood and the character of a town, of a place, of our houses.

    We are the change.

Yesterday was one year since the 15M, the "Indignados" movement started. We were more than 20.000 people in the street here in Barcelona and more than 80.000 people in Madrid.

The fact is that, when you return at your home, you are alone and you can loose the feeling of being part of a change. But I've learn, as the time was passing by, that being alone is the perfect moment for doing something concrete for the change.

In your house you make the change, in the street you share it with the others.

So, here is a list of 7 concretes things I've done during this year.

    1) When everything seemed to be blocked, I've moved my ass. Now is the perfect moment to do it you've nothing to loose. They anyway have steal your future so I've the feeling that my future is now, in my own hands. I cannot wait. I've quit my permanent contract and started searching for something else. I got it in less than one month.

    2) I take at least one day of the week as my "No-Capitalistic-Day" and I don't buy anything. I switch off the computer, don't look at facebook, twitter, at my e-mail. I don't use my mobile phone. If I cannot do this for any reason, I take at least the 3% of my time, everyday, to do it.

    3) For the first time in my life I plant something. I've never did it. I've planted seeds of flowers I really love. They are teaching me the meaning of slowness and patience. Even when it seems that nothing is happening on the soil, the day after here is a little plant. If the plant dies, I will plant another one :). Is really great.

    4) I try to organize at least one dinner/lunch/brunch per month to see my friends.

    5) I tell to my friends that my house is open and that they are more than welcomed to ring the bell. This is something I was used to do when I was a child. It was so good. No messages, no whatsapp. I love when some of my friends, riding their bicycles, ring the bell. Please, if you are near my home, come to my door and ring the bell. I will be so happy to see you. So happy :).

    6) I quit my bank account and open a new bank account in an Ethical Bank. But before doing it, it took to me a long period of time while I was researching and studying how this bank works and if it was really true that it was "ethical".

    Last but not least:

    7) It is almost a year that I don't buy dresses, books, music etc but I exchange them with my friends or other people. I sign to "Barcelona Freecycle". It is a big group of people exchanging things that they don't use. There are a lot of these groups in the net. Check it.

While doing this I have learn that the experience of buying - the big column of our economy - is a solitary act and, as every solitary act, it creates a lot of frustration and sadness.

Exchange creates new energies and a long feeling of happiness. Now good season is coming, is time to change your wardrobe and is the perfect time to organize your own first flea market.

    Do it!
