  • The leather baseball glove hung naturally and weightless from his hand as he anticipated the throw he would make once the ball completed its trajectory from his sons hand into the glove, which in a moment would be subconsciously elevated to the precise point at which to capture the energy provided by the weight of the ball, gravity and his son's own energy and back and forth it would occur, subconsciously tantric as the summer sun shone down upon them in their thoughtless bliss, father and son. No words were spoken.

Can we catch words too? What about entire conversations, would they require more than what our bodies require to play catch with a leather and cork ball? I think not, but to what purpose? Surely there is more to a good conversation than the weight of a ball hitting the glove followed by a perfect pivot and throw or is this really all there is? Catch then pivot, then throw, What if there was no one willing to catch your throw? Would your words travel to an unavoidably gravity challenged apex and then fall to the ground with no return? Would they lie on the ground and decompose over millennia as a baseball would?

I have a dog but she won’t fetch.
