  • Some days the gateway to inspiration is closed in my face. Today, I have a deadline to meet and eight pieces to write for the next issue of the magazine I work for, and the words are locked up tight where I can't get at them. I sit in front of the computer with a mental picture of myself tearing at my hair and beating my head on the desk, trying to jar loose an idea. It would be funny if it weren't so frustrating. t know that this is a process I have to endure -- it's the way I work unfortunately -- and that some time when I least expect it, when I've given up on it, a key will turn and the answers will appear. At least, I know this is how it's happened before, and I have to trust it will happen again.
