  • Here I am — 6 a.m. — two days after presenting my thesis, and with nothing to do.

I think back to when my dad was unemployed, in between jobs, and what that must've felt like. Or how my mom feels when she is living in a foreign country with no job and nothing on her to-do list.

Frankly, though, most of our actions aren't terribly important.

With my extra time, I watched "Downton Abbey" for the first time yesterday. And one of the characters wasn't terribly comfortable with servants dressing him. But Lord Grantham, who is head of the estate, said something to the effect of, "We all have roles and we must all be allowed to play them."

Self-worth seems to be a fragile thing.
