  • For your kind consideration: your humble author as a toddler, taken before the Earth's crust cooled. Note the dreamy look in my eyes. I'd like to think it was proof that at the tender age of 2-1/2 I was already gazing into the future, but I believe it was because the photographer's assistant was dangling a rubber duck above the lens.

    My parents raised me to be considerate, strong and fiercely independent, so when I announced that a wanted to become a writer and a filmmaker, all they could do was bite their tongues. Throughout my career I was never sure if they were making noises of approval or merely choking.

    By all accounts I was an agreeable child. But what's with the hair, dude?
