  • Whilst strolling through Convent Garden, in London, we came to the area reserved for street theater.
And there she was; a one woman circus.

First of all she had to get the attention of the crowds. She pranced around wearing silly clothes grabbing innocent bystanders putting bands round their heads; and placing them in a square formation.

She made the crowd laugh when she stood behind one of the young men and made him open and close his mouth whilst she was talking. It worked! She created the illusion that he was using her voice to announce her amazing show.

Then she twirled around. Did a somersault. Turned her back to the audience and vigorously adjusted her leotard making the crowd laugh. She showed her muscles then pulled herself up to her trapeze frame and executed some acrobatics.

How brave, not to just show her athletic skills, but charm the crowds and make them laugh. I saw the desperation in her eyes. Her determination to succeed. And she did.

I hope she collected enough money to live on and perhaps pay for circus school.
