  • When I started encrusting some of my art along the long wall in front of my house, I hoped to inspire others to do the same in their own ways. I always walk back and forth along the wall while waiting for my taxi to arrive to take me downtown. So: I look at it, at the neighbors, mostly Mayans from Chamula, walk by, smiles and greetings are exchanged. I see the children liking the images on the wall, BUT: as you see, nobody has gotten inspired so far!

Maybe nobody will get inspired, because some of these images have been there for many years and no neighbor whatsoever has painted or encrusted anything on their housewalls.

In a way that is flattering, because it helps me to feel special, which is not so great or good on the long un.

Altogether it is disappointing. But that is how it goes in life: some things work out and others do not and we never know for sure, which are which.
