  • Three years ago in March, my best friend from home went on an epic journey with me. We couch surfed across the entire United States, from Florida up to Colorado down to LA and up the 101 to my new home in Seattle. Strangers offered us their beds, various states surprised (Utah) and disappointed (Kansas) us with their beauty. The Redwoods and Mt. St. Helens greeted us like West Coast majesty. All in all, it was epic, and cemented a friendship that was already built to last.

The photo above was the shot I took on my red eye home last week to go to a cousin's wedding and see my best friend once again for a tiny MidWestern version of our epic road trip. We are so grown up now, with our volunteer activities, careers and relationships built on trust. As she prepares to get married in a year, and I prepare to fit into my maid of honor dress, we celebrated like two people who have a lot of fond memories, and many more to come.
