  • One would say she was a devoted wife of David, but what do we know from her life beyond the most a abbreviated of messages? Did she find that promised afterlife, or did the lights go out? Did she find a pearly gate? Trumpets and swans? A great ocean? a vast nothingness?

Lydia may very well be trying to let us know, all I know is that time and the elements have been working at her message. On the scale of earth history long deep time, she is a blink of a blink of a blink.

Am I more set to leave a more detailed record? Should I? Will me digital markers end up tilted and moss covered? Will some future visitor find just a riddle?

I do not think Lydia fell at all, I prefer to believe life is half full.

I am using Cowbird to share the story of a 15,000 mile road odyssey I took in 2011, which started with me quitting my job in March and setting out in June for a loop around the US and Canada. It's less of a day by day narrative and more of an attempt to tell a story of the story, with some amounts of imagined bits that emerge on looking at the media from the trip, including the more than 1400 images, videos, and audio files collected in my digital time capsule, the Storybox.
