  • There is a big event today with feminist seminars, discussions, meetings and happenings - the annual Feministiskt Forum in Stockholm.

I saw an exhibition there from a newly started blog called "Macho on public transport" where people take snapshots of men taking up too much space on the bus or subway, and post them online. I love the blog and initiative.

All my life I've felt powerless against these kinds of micro-demonstrations of male supremity. You can not act the same way because you are a woman, which means you don't get away with it. You can not ignore it, because the sum of all small demonstrations of power around you is part of what takes away your equal rights. You can not complain, because each problem in itself is so small that you just seem really sensitive and aggressive if you bring it up. Wait... apparently you CAN complain.

http://machoikollektivtrafiken.se/ is the url of the blog. There is an article about them in english here.
