  • this is my heart's work. a team of us in india, supported by generous friends around the world, collaborating in the spirit of dr ambedkar. a community once considered "untouchable", inspired by this great humanitarian, dr. ambedkar, the man who wrote india's constitution and dedicated his life to ending the injustices of a brutal caste system in his country's newly-independent democracy. dr. ambedkar, "jai bhim", a man inspired by the buddha's vision of liberty equality and fraternity. a man we recall when we say JAI, long live! BHIM, dr. bhimrao ambedkar, JAI BHIM. jai bhim- a vibrant social justice movement, gathering momentum for over 65 years. JAI BHIM INTERNATIONAL, a collection of friends, inspired by dr. ambedkar's tireless commitment. as "jbi" we gather to practice communicative english, to meditate, to master academic skills, to do yoga, to set goals, to dance, to develop our leadership, to sing, to practice active listening, to make artful offerings, to share our experiences, to cook, to eat, to wash up, to do creative writing, to sip tea, to tell our stories, to laugh, to make deep friendships, to learn our history, to reflect, to vision. a new generation, confident, articulate, creative, resourceful. i am so lucky to be connected. deeply meaningful, incredibly inspiring, the caste-free generation. my buddhist teacher has said about the great buddhists of the 20th century that "once they had discovered their purpose in life, they never wavered." following in the footsteps of dr. ambedkar, may we never waver. jai bhim!
