That's because I have neither income nor health insurance, and therefore haven't been able to frequent doctors for sufficient documentation. Those guys are expensive -- especially the specialists -- so I usually take care of adjusting my own medications and using my own developed clinical sense when problems arise. I come from a family of registered nurses and paramedics and I am not uninformed about my disease, science and biology or the various idiosyncrasies of the medical profession. I am smart and have become, by necessity, my own doctor.

"You state you have worked in the past as a graphic designer. According to the way you described this job, your condition(s) does not prevent you from doing this type of work."

Funny that. The opsoclonus I began treatment for is apparently by the wayside here because I was unable to see my specialist to discuss its worsening. I am a blessed person to be able to type and do what I can do -- in my best moments, I can type an entire story here. I may be able to skim an internet article. I stopped reading books a couple of years ago because of my eyes. I watch a lot of internet videos and look at a lot of pictures. I can even do some work in Photoshop. But not all the time; in fact, I cannot know when I will have lucid or painless moments. I cannot know until the frozen lightning bolts begin jerking my eyeballs in directions not even they can predict.

I am frustrated, but I know I am in no way a special government target. I know most first time applications are denied; I was hoping for a different outcome.
