  • Today I went to the Moxie Con Conference. Moxie is defined as having energy, spunk, or spirt. This conference could not have come at a better time. I am currently in my fourth quarter at The Chicago Portfolio School and I am trying to figure out my next steps. I planned to be here a year for school and I had to give my apartment a 60 day notice that I will be moving out before my lease ends and the 60 days notice is this Tuesday. It is hard not knowing what or where I will be in the next two months. I went ahead and told my apartment I will be moving out June 30th (when my lease ends). I remember like it was yesterday when my dad and I drove up here from Franklin, TN. Moved into this tiny ass apartment in Downtown, Chicago. I will never forget the feeling I felt when my Dad had to leave and go back home. I felt excited and scared. There was this pit in my stomach that didn't go away for a while. Chicago was my home now. Now that the year is coming to an end and school is almost over. I am feeling the exact same way I was when I first moved here; excited and scared. I am moving home June 30th and it is so close to being here. I am excited and scared about what my next step in life is. Where am I gonna be and what I want to be doing. Todays Moxie Conference was filled with inspiring speakers and all there inspiring quotes.

Nancy Lyons and Meghan Wilker - "Ask for what you want" and "Fake it till you make it"
Marcia Lausen - "Disappointments = Opportunities"
Linda McCauley - "They expect you to negotiate"
Mare Swallow - "Start Strong, Finish Strong"
Mig Reyes - "Try Something New, Something Different" and "Hard Work is Heart Work"
Heather Nolan - "Use your mark as an adjective"
Marian Williams and Sara O'Mara - "Always be human, be professional when necessary." -Sara's Boss and "Let go of the "shoulds""
Mikey Burton - "Make work you care about"
Alissa Walker - "Have a contagious sense of purpose"

All of these quotes are amazing! I am truly inspired by the day that I just had. I know I need to sit down and figure out what I want out of my life and where I want to be. I am prepared to take on these next two months and see where I end up next!

    Watch out! I've got Moxie!
