  • This is Jackcine Jackson.

    She changed her last name to Goulet twenty-six years ago when she married David.

    She doesn’t like to have her picture taken anymore. I don’t know who took this one, all I know is that it was passed to me, one of the few pictures of my mom in her golden years. I didn’t get to go home that summer, that summer when we had blueberries in the front yard. Sometimes during the night, I imagine I am standing next to her.
