  • On April 21st my work put on the first ever gorilla fun run in Mankato, MN. We wanted to do this for several reasons:

    1) Get the community out and about and active
    2) Build a sense of family amongst co-workers
    3) Raise money for a great charity

We met all of these goals and exceeded them. The Thursday before the event we had 160 people signed up to run - by the time the gun went off at the start line we had 450+ gorillas ready to take to the streets!

The event was a success despite some hiccups due to the overwhelming number of runners and we were able to raise more than $25,000 for Miracle League - an organization that helps kids of all ages and abilities participate in baseball/softball.

I learned a lot about myself through this event, too. I learned that with a little ingenuity no problem is too big to figure out and that I actually can keep my wits about me when faced with a seemingly daunting task.

It was great to see everyone from work coming together for a great cause and it made me even more happy to see so many people from the community taking action and being active.
