  • No matter how many times I had the chance to look out over Barcelona from the top of Tibidabo, it still registers as a new and foreign experience.

Coming from a place where churches are usually in or near the city center, it is not the norm when a church is perched on the peak of a mountain. And if that was normal, try adding a theme park around the place.

It almost represents fully the theme and culture of the city below. A cosmopolitan and modern culture laid on a bed of history. The church has seen centuries while the theme park is just another addition to the ever changing world. The area features a potpourri of different styles from the gothic details to the Spanish and Italian homesteads nearby, to the Norman Foster designed telecommunications tower that brought Barcelona to the 21st century,

All together odd, but interesting, and different. That's the goal of studying abroad, isn't it?
