  • “Relying on the government to protect
your privacy is like asking a peeping Tom
    to install your window blinds.”

    John Perry Barlow

    Heard about “Smart Meters”?

If you do not know about this latest techno-outrage, before reading further, I recommend that you Google “Smart Meters” (electricity, problems, sickness, toxicity, health hazards and so on.)

Also, a number of websites are springing up with names such as “Stop Smart Meters,” and you will find plenty of these to bring you up to speed.

I would also suggest that you do a Search on the Jeff Rense web site for current articles which set forth the extreme dangers of these devices, which are part of a new national “Grid” system and, many believe, part of a new strategy for extreme citizen surveillance.

If none of this is of interest, you can stop reading here, of course.

But if you do your homework, you may agree with me that these things are nothing you want broadcasting their EMF pollution throughout your neighborhood, and worse, your home and your body.

Because we generally do personal stories here, in addition to giving you some invaluable and potentially life-saving information (yes, it is believed they can kill you, especially if you have a pacemaker, or are in fragile health, and include your kids and pets in that as well), in addition to a sort of public awareness service here, I thought I would share my own personal response to
this unwarranted, aggressive, and I believe thoroughly criminal invasion of our health and homes.

If we are in the process of creating a global thought map of the critical news, personal stories, happenings, and phenomena of our times, I believe that what may end up as the “Smart Meter Wars” needs to be on our subject matter list.

There are profound social forces at work in our society today which need to be closely watched, because they are disruptive, dangerous and potentially destructive in ways we cannot even imagine. Advanced technologies coming along which invade our lives and disrupt our minds
and bodies need to be subject to strict regulations, and as living beings we need to speak up for our rights as often as we feel intimidated, extorted, or bullied into going along with “programs’ such as Smart Meters and more of their ilk to come.

I am a peaceful person, and very much a disciple of Gandhi and the whole school of non-violence. I would never knowingly harm another living being. However, for each of us, there comes a time when we have to draw our personal line in the sand and say “Enough of this.”

My line in the sand on the Smart Meter issue is at my property line. In a conversation with a Customer Service Agent at Southern California Edison a few minutes ago, I made it clear that I request that they put my name on the “Opt Out” list. Of course, they are going to charge an initial fee for “opting out” of Smart Meter service, and up to $10 a month if one does NOT install the meter, but I made it very clear that no Smart Meter is going to be installed here.

Hold on that for a moment: The electric companies are now going to assess an initial charge, and then an extra monthly charge JUST TO KEEP THE SMART METERS AWAY! There are serious legal objections to this, and my guess is that a flurry of class action suits is going to bloom from the killing fields here.

I will not frighten you with my inner scenarios of what would happen in the event that SCE tried to force their way onto my property, break in, and install one of the meters, but an immediate call to the Police Department for trespassing would be my first shot in what would become a serious confrontation. Even with my respect for Gandhi, it would go downhill fast from there.

People, we are supposed to be about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness here in this country, but we are losing our will, our perspective, our cojones and our ability to speak truth to power and confront what Chris Hedges calls “Inverted Totalitarianism.” (Google that one too, and you will come up to speed real fast.)

Very Large Causes have sprung from Seemingly Small Catalysts, such as the student who immolated himself and ignited the uprisings in Egypt and throughout the world. In our own country, the original Boston Tea Party might have seemed futile at the time, but made its mark on history.

I have no idea who is going to win the “Smart Meter Wars,” but I can assure you that forces are gathering, strategies are being mapped, and normal, peaceful people like me are ready to fight to protect their property with any legal means available.

Do your homework. Smart Meters may be on their way to your neighborhood and your home, if they are not already there. (You can have them ripped out, BTW.)

    Lock and load.
