  • There you are, cloaked in spring time glory, ready to unfurl, and declare not only the end of the frozen season, but this is the beginning of a long run of bright orangeness, you and your ilk will carpet my yard, you unfold gently in the morning, thrust wide open to the open blue sky, and roll up again at dusk, what do you hide from me, what do you not reveal, is what I see when you are open really you, is what I see what I want to see, I am seeking answers to questions you care not for, you look at me sideways for even thinking these questions when I should just be savoring a moment yet I seemed to have slept through school that day that taught savoring, yes, I stalk you daily yet the brilliant colors you show me turn out flattened in my photographs, just who are you exactly, is that such a large thing to ask, to know with some certainty, as if there were such a thing.

Welcome to the spastic energy pulses inside my head case.

I am using Cowbird to share the story of a 15,000 mile road odyssey I took in 2011, which started with me quitting my job in March and setting out in June for a loop around the US and Canada. It's less of a day by day narrative and more of an attempt to tell a story of the story, with some amounts of imagined bits that emerge on looking at the media from the trip, including the more than 1400 images, videos, and audio files collected in my digital time capsule, the Storybox.
