  • I'd been working all afternoon in my studio on a project that involves bits of red silk, when I realized it was so quiet that I could hear the needle pulling through the fabric... which led to staring out the window. It's almost evening, and it's been raining most of the day, but there might be a little color in the sky if the clouds clear. A couple came walking down the street with their arms around each other. The girl was wearing a red skirt and tall boots. I looked back at the pile of red thread snippings washed up on the corner of my drafting table. And then stared at my inbox, where I noticed this story about a girl looking out of a window.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking I must be the only person in the entire world feeling a certain way. Cowbird is a fantastic little invention that reminds us we are all connected by little red (read) threads of the shared experience of being people.
