  • I read something on Facebook a week or so ago about how the Big One was on its way in the next few days. Then a couple of days ago I read how 'It' would happen this weekend.

I have been following earthquakes since 3/11 in Japan. The photo is an image of earthquakes globally in the last 30 days.

The most interesting part is that the intensity, frequency, and location in this image seems to be quite normal.

We only hear about earthquakes when they are 'newsworthy' which generally means loss of human life.

When I lived in Beirut I had a seventh story (top floor) 'penthouse' apartment. Lebanese friends had come to dinner. As the shaking began, each one of them immediately ran to preserve something that might otherwise be damaged. Then we went downstairs and spent the rest of the evening in the street.

When I lived in the Dominican Republic my home was a trailer. We had an earthquake on Halloween. I had no idea it was an earthquake. Rather, I thought sure the rocking was from high school kids trying to overturn the trailer.

    So it goes.
