  • I got up early and went for a walk in the park this morning. I went to the wetlands area of the park, to escape from the festival that was setting up in the main park area. I almost stepped on this tiny snake which was resting smack-dab in the middle of the path. I thought it might be dead so I gently nudged it with my shoe.

    It lifted its head lazily, as if to say, "Hey lady, can't a snake sleep in on a Saturday?"

    I apologized and went on my way ...
