  • So many people are scared of wasps and bees. I grew up with a dad who keeps bees as a hobby, so I've always felt a sense of comfort with stinging insects. They get in the way sometimes, sure. But I've never known them to bug me when I wasn't bugging them.

    I've been stung twice. The first time, I was about five or six, and was playing on our swingset. I reached up to grab the top bar, and a bumblebee on the other side objected to me squishing him.

    It hurt like heck, but even now, I feel more concerned for the bumblebee than for me.
