  • The cherry blossoms, their beauty lures me.
A whiff of of their effervescence tempts me.
Soon, lush, red, ripe cherries will entice me.
But the sign clearly says, Do Not Enter.

I am tempted to experience living life again.
To love, to laugh; to become beguiled and intrigued.
The nighttime lights across the river allure me.
But my heart clearly says, Do Not Enter.

There is a road into the cherry grove; a path that obviously ignores the sign.
A place to tread deep into the heart of the field of fruit and climb into the boughs of the trees.
A passage to curl like a child in the arms of abundance, sleepy from satisfaction.
Should an entry way to such sweet fulfillment be ignored simply because of its cautionary sign?

There is a bridge across the river; one that people travel in droves, daily.
It closes the gap on loneliness; and propels humans into the dynamics of living.
The city encompasses love, relationships, and connections; death, pain and poverty.
My heart clearly says Do Not Enter; I need the courage to bypass the cautionary sign.
