  • Here I am sitting on a bench in Piazza Novano. It's a sunny day in May and I feel lucky because it has been raining for the last couple of days. I feel the warmth of sun on my back, it's very relaxing being here. This is my second week in Rome and I find myself coming back to this square just to sit down and watch around.

I have the luxury of listening to live jazz music made by street musicians while I watch Fontana del Moro. There are many tourists around, you can feel the buzz... Even though I am a tourist too, I don't want to be a part of the buzz, to take pictures, to buy souvenirs today. I want to take a break from being a tourist and just be...

I look around and I try to embed in my memory this very moment. I have to remember the music, sun, conversations in Italian my ears catch in bits and pieces, the smell of the ice cream the guy holding sitting next to me. I wish they produced special bottles for moments so that we could keep some like these ones for rainy days.
