  • In Iceland we celebrate the first day of summer, each year in April. This year, it will be celebrated tomorrow, on April 19th.
It's an old habit to give kids a little "summergift" - back in the days when the winters were longer and harder, people faced this day with optimism, regardless of the weather - looking forward to the warmer days of summertime.

Today - it's obvious that the summer is close by, even though the mountains are still covered in winter.
