  • My previous story about Chez Roger would not be complete without a picture of its propriĆ©taire, Joel Meslin.

Joel gave up his Michelin Stars to concentrate more on his food than maintaining his stars. His glamorous wife Nathalie farms the local oyster beds which supplies Chez Roger with the freshest, sweetest local oysters. Natalie is also often at the restaurant and is happy to inform diners of the provenance of all the food and condiments and when and where they can be bought.

Joel is a warm and friendly host who not only owns Chez Roger, but also acts as chef, waiter, sommelier and maitre'd.

It has been several years since I was last at Chez Roger, but Joel's charm and warmth, his superb cooking and wine cellar and the homely ambiance of Chez Roger are memories which are difficult to forget.
