  • I'm sick of this happiness.

I’m sick of these demands of success in modern world. You have to succeed, otherwise you are nothing.

Today I stayed a long time inside a courtyard in central Helsinki. Brand new apartments all around, in front of one door there are lit candles, roses, a binky and a small baby doll.

    I'm sick of this happiness.

Inside the apartment above happened two days ago seventh family murder in a year in Finland. During a sunny spring weekend full of daffodils and light. 40 year old father killed his one year and three year old daughters and his wife. After that he drove against a truck in motorway. Four deaths, three of them murders.

First police thought that a car crash was accident. They went to tell about a death of driver to family. Nobody answered the doorbell. After a while policemen became suspicious. They went in with a master key and inside they found three bodies. Two of them were very little, very fragile.

Fuck, I'm sick of this happiness.

I’m sick of these demands of success in our modern culture. Zero resistance to failures. These killing fathers belong to middle class, many of them were bosses in companies. Wealthy men in wealthy jobs. When they get into crisis, they feel that they are losers. Losers have no right to live. So they kill themselves. Before that they kill their children and wifes, because there’s no reason for loser’s family to live in the world that demands success. In the world where only winners deserve to live. So they think.

In the beginning of April United Nations published the first ever World Happiness Report. According to it Finland is the second happiest country of the world to live. Second among 180 countries.

I’m sick of this happiness that lights candles in front of doorsteps.
