  • My Godparents came to do the gardening for me and for a catch up visit, they are a whirlwind of help and happiness around the place and my quiet home is filled with life and energy and bustle when they are here.

I made an afternoon tea of meats, breads and salads and a Victoria sponge for them after their hard work. That too was a bustling affair, chatting the family news over tea, spreading butter and gossip in equal quantities.

After they'd gone, the house returned to it's perpetual quiet. I mostly like it that way, I'm a fairly solitary creature really, but it's nice to have the household silence broken sometimes by family visits and laughter and life.

After they'd gone, before I cleared up, I rediscovered the calm with a book and a bit of leftover cake.

    Sunday treat.
