  • The first frost of winter came suddenly. Hard.

    In autumn.

The leaves were unprepared, and were caught off guard.

One leaf (it's companions all nestled together as if for comfort on the bonnet of an old Mercedes van) was left on its own.

    Stuck. On a wet windscreen.

The misfortune of the uncontrolled descent.

    Poor leaf.

And night descended, and with it the piercing blue cold of winter.

Next morning I rose early, and found...............................a frostflower fantasy. With leaf centre stage. Cold beauty.

    Wonderful leaf.
