  • Woodlands are amazing places.

    Literal representations of woodlands show what these places look like. Thats good. But easy.

    But sometimes it's nice to show how woodlands make you feel. Thats much harder.

    So this is what I do....I use a slow shutter speed, on a dullish day, with maybe only wisps of light, and stand with my elbows tight against my side, camera held firmly. Then I bend, from the waist and let the camera 'drag' down across the woodland scene as I press the shutter.

    This is very much like a gracious, 1 second long, reverential bow to an admired entity.

    Which is very apt, don't you think?

    The woodlands obviously think so, and in return for my prostration, smear themselves across my image. Elegantly.

    And with feeling.
