  • After She has covered the street of Ballarò market, the Holy Vergin turns into a little narrow street. She is sustained from a lot of "picciotti" from the bottom: they hold embraced each other, guided by the reptile gazes of the bosses of the clan; the desperates watch the crowd from on high, getting bored by the mystery revealed to them. Slaves and masters rotate in centripetal direction around the coloured plastered face. And it is a Renaissance movement of poor devils, nails and centurions, feuds and laces, hooded men and bloody little girls. Little old ladies bring the silver cross to their mouth with one hand, and with the other one they dislocate the children's wrist that hold out toward candies. The Holy Vergin stumbles: the center of the world

    Dopo aver percorso la strada del mercato di Ballarò, la Madonna svolta in un vicoletto stretto. Dal basso è sostenuta da vari picciotti: si tengono abbracciati l'un l'altro, guidati da sguardi rettili dei capiclan; dall'alto i disperati osservano la ressa, provando noia per il mistero che li manifesta. Schiavi e padroni ruotano centripeti attorno al viso di gesso colorato. Ed è un movimento rinascimentale di poveri cristi, chiodi e centurioni, feudi e pizzi, incappucciati e bambine insanguinate. Le vecchiette con una mano portano alla bocca la croce d'argento, con l'altra slogano il polso dei bambini tesi ai dolcetti. La madonna incespica: il centro del mondo.
