  • It's a concept that comes up so freely in conversation that no one seems to ponder the value behind it any more.

    Times are always a little bit rough. But last week as I watched her mother speak to me through exhausted eyes, I knew that times were just a little bit rougher.
    "I really hope it's rock bottom this time," she exhaled. That's when I was struck with the question. What really is rock bottom?

    Is it some purgatory that traps you in a mindset between death and the spiraling that got you there in the first place? Or is it your absolute hell? How many times can you hit rock bottom? If you think you're there, does that really mean you are?

    But in this cataclysmic concept, there is an endearing and deathless spirit in the knowledge that with every touch on rock bottom, there is only one way to go: Up.
