  • The deep, wide ocean covers most of the entire planet.
    It's vastness and mysteriousness astonish me.

    One of the many things that really grab me about the ocean is the myriad of shapes, sizes and functions of the varying creatures that I have encountered.

    Case in point today was this amazing Parrot Fish.

    After taking this shot, I watched it swim away and thought;

    At what point,
    in this fish's biological past,
    did it become necessary....
    Advantageous even...
    to be adorned with a rainbow in this way?

    Thank goodness we live in a word where tiny units of inheritance respond over time, to the environment in which they reside.

    Simply astonishing.
