  • When I'm home alone I crave the quiet. I rarely turn the tv or radio on. There's something soothing about the sounds of silence. Especially during the day. There's the sound of the air conditioning when it clicks in and then out, and then the low electronic background buzz/hum of the refrigerator.

On laundry days (just about every day in my home) there's the lulling, rhythmic noise of the washer and dryer.

Sometimes if I have the sliding glass doors open I can hear the sound of a mourning dove or the whistles of some cheery, chirpy bird

I love the lumbering sounds of the garbage truck,on Tuesdays and Fridays, that interrupts the morning stillness. And the diesel sound of the Fedex delivery trucks that stop for a moment and then start up again. It means that routines are being carried out.

Life goes on, no matter what.
