  • I’m just gonna have to ride this one out. If I can hang on for a while – a couple years maybe – then I’m hoping it will pass, like a cold snap giving way late in the season. I understand that these things don’t sort themselves out on their own, that they ask hard work, discipline, and grit. That part doesn’t bother me. I am ready to clock the sweaty hours, to toil in cramped obscurity for as long as it takes. I don’t need much to get by. A bed, a bike, a tin of sardines. A cigarette every now and again.

    There’s nothing to complain about, and no one is listening besides. This is all there is. Failure is only the starting point. Wake up in the pale fog. Pick a direction. Walk.
