  • 365 Faces / Day 127.

I had painted Leslie a few times already. I met him as an old man now in the middle of his Lou Gehrig's disease journey. Still, Leslie Perry has more spirit and heart than most people I have ever known.

This image however, was based on a photo of him in his prime. His s!!!t - eatin' grin clearly shows his amazing, vivacious personality at its peak. I see a jokester with boundless imagination and bravado, fun lovin' cool guy bursting with energy.

    And a serious flirt, too!

I love his expression here. Each time I look at it, I wanna LOL!

It reminds me that life without laughter is a waste.

It helps me take myself much less seriously.

It makes me look beyond the frail old man I see in front of me, to find the robust beauty and richness we all carry from our past that made us who we are today.

Leslie, you still got it to light up my world. Thank you my friend!
