  • Prepared for this day

Mom was good about guiding us along the path we wandered together

A guide sure to stop and look at the moss, the worms, and the tree that looked like an old man.

Not afraid to let us run ahead and explore on our own

Always a sweater and a reminder to take one, as one never could predict the weather.

Weather people, not weather men, she was careful to say, lied

    Things were always alright, safe

Protection and direction for the future

Wisdom: Use birth control, get an education, keep going and don't doubt yourself, never depend on
someone else for your happiness, don't depend on a man for your well being, follow your dreams,

Everyone has something, so be patient she would say. Patient with both yourself and others.

He is only a kid, give him a break. She tells me this as I can't let go of my fear for my son. He is growing, trust him and yourself.

You grow up too fast, slow down.

Your daughter, she is something special; I can see it in her soul as I hold her.

A vacation from ADHD meds is no vacation for anyone!

And I almost forgot to say, Always wear sunscreen.

Keep running, you need to honey.

Don't be afraid of the changes that occur... We are growing up.

Appreciate life as there is only one chance for life but life is full of second chances.

The path wanders and you are no longer in front of me. I suppose that is what all that running ahead as a kid was about, preparation for doing it without you.

You always said the sun will rise with or without you, the river will rise, and the seasons change with or without you.

So you were right about that too mom. As much as I thought the world would stop without you it hasn't.

The days start and stop as they should and run one into another, perhaps a little to warm this year.

You were right, weather people have hard jobs. Life is as unpredictable as the weather.

I trip and land on my ass. The path is a bit icy at times, you are right..... life is full of surprises.

I feel your hand, see your deep brown eyes so full of trust and love even at the end. You knew you raised your daughters right, you trusted us to grow and then to care for you.

Memories and the beauty of the world..... holding me in your arms.

My first birthday without you. Thank you for the gift of life, helping me grow, and being so present, even to the end. You done good mom. I can go forth. I can feel your touch in my soul and see your smile every night and morning as I go from sleep to wake or wake to sleep. You little imp! I miss you.
