  • You may have thought I didn't see,
    Or that I hadn't heard,
    Life lessons that you taught to me,
    But I got every word.

    Maybe you thought I missed it all,
    And that we'd grow apart,
    But Dad, I picked up everything,
    It's written on my heart.

    Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
    The girl I am today;
    You built a strong foundation
    No one can take away.

    I've grown up with your values,
    And I'm very glad I did;
    I know i messed up a lot, but hey! im still a kid.
    Nothing more i'd like to do then make you proud;
    even if it takes more yelling and being loud.

    I haven't always made you smile,
    and I wish i could take it all back.
    But you are like a stone, you never even cracked.
    You put up with my bickering and whining for thirteen years,
    even if half the stuff you said wouldn't process in my ears.

    At the end of the day I'm grateful that you are in my life;
    you've made such a huge impact on how to act.
    These lessons will always be with me and that's a fact.
    Tears, lies, and betrayal, but you're still here; never giving up on me, year after year.
