  • Once someone had asked me who was my ideal person. I had never thought about the answer before that and after giving it a thought, had replied - my nanaji (maternal grandfather). This had happened many years ago.

Today when I came to my parents after several months, I was told that he was in the hospital after suffering an attack of paralysis 3 days back. I came to see him in the hospital. Since his entire right hand side is immovable, it was difficult to understand his words. After trying to make himself understood, tears flowed through his eyes. I have seen his eyes wet only once before..when my naniji (maternal grand mother), his wife, had succumbed to cancer 10 years ago. There are certain days in your life that come back to you often...for me this has always been one. He had stood up then. He will stand up this time also.

Its almost midnight and in a few minutes - 25 Mar - its nanaji's birthday. He wants to celebrate it at home, but the doctor thinks its safe for him to be here in the hospital a few more days under medical observation.
